The Barking Crab opened its doors in May 1994 along Boston's historic Fort Point Channel as an outdoor summer restaurant — originally called "Venus, Seafood in the Rough." Three decades later, it's become one of the city's most beloved destinations, seamlessly blending the casual spirit of a coastal clam shack with a vibrant urban waterfront setting.
What began as a seasonal spot for lobster rolls and longnecks has grown into a year-round institution, complete with an expansive deck under our iconic yellow-and-red striped tent for summer nights, and a wood-burning stove to keep things cozy through Boston's famous winters.
We source the freshest seafood daily, serve up an on-site marina for those arriving by boat, and offer the kind of relaxed, unpretentious experience that keeps Bostonians — and visitors from around the world — coming back year after year.
